This web site will be dedicated to show the other, not-so-pretty side to Gwen Shamblin's weight loss programs and how they are a recruitment tool  for her Remnant Fellowship 'church' she leads.  I am convinced from what I have seen that Remnant Fellowship is a cult... and has no doubt has destroyed many families (mine included).  There are so many horror stories about Gwen's church ... many testimonies from ex-members who call it a cult, ruined families and marriages where one spouse got involved but the other spouse didn't, etc.  This website will be dedicated to listing out these various stories and listing out many other links showing 'the other side' of Gwen Shamblin, her Weigh Down programs and her Remnant Fellowship church..

Here are some of the nation's top cult experts (both secular and Christian) who say Gwen Shamblin's Remnant Fellowship is a cult:
  •     Steve Hassan thinks Remnant Fellowship is a cult.

Steven Alan Hassan is one of the foremost authorities on cults and mind control. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and the author of two of the most respected books on the subject of cults. His first book, Combatting Cult Mind Control: The #1 Guide to Protection, Rescue and Recovery from Destructive Cults (Park Street Press, 1988) is published in seven different languages. His second work Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves (FOM Press, 2000) received critical acclaim from both peers and members of the clinical psychology communities. In 2012, he released Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs (FOM Press).

With more than 30 years of cult awareness activism, Hassan’s insightful perspective and expert commentary have made him a definitive source for hundreds of national, international and local media outlets including: USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, People Magazine, Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, The Today Show, Geraldo, 60 Minutes, Night Line, and Good Morning America.

Hassan is the founder the Freedom of Mind Resource Center Inc., and holds a Masters degree in counseling psychology from Cambridge College. His website is: www.freedomofmind.com

  •     Rick Ross thinks Remnant Fellowship is a cult..
Rick Ross is the founder and Executive Director of the Rick A. Ross Institute. He is an internationally known expert regarding destructive cults, controversial groups and movements. Since 1982 he has been studying, researching and responding to the problems often posed by such groups or movements.

He has personally assisted thousands of families in an effort to help the victims of destructive cults, groups and movements.  Ross has been qualified and accepted as an expert witness and testified in court cases across the United States. He has also frequently assisted local and national law enforcement and government agencies.  Rick Ross is one of the most readily recognized experts offering analysis about destructive cults, controversial groups and movements in the world today.

He has been a paid consultant for the television networks CBS, CBC and Nippon of Japan. And also was retained as a technical consultant by Miramax/Disney.  Ross' commentary has been quoted within publications such as Time, Newsweek, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe and The Washington Post.  His appearances on national television have included a wide range of venues from news programs such as the "Today" show, "CNN World News," "Dateline", and "48 Hours" to popular interview shows such as "Oprah," "Dr. Phil" and "Inside Edition."

Ross has lectured at such prestigious institutions as Dickinson College, the University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, Baylor University, and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.  Ross' analysis has been sought on virtually every major cult story for more than a decade.

  •     Bill Honsberger thinks Remnant Fellowship is a cult..
Bill Honsberger is the head of a Christian organization called Haven Ministries whose purpose includes to directly evangelize and disciple the lost, particularly those trapped and deceived in non-Christian religions, the New Age Movement, cults and the occult. They seek out the lost, going to their events, bookstores and seminars, sharing the Gospel and challenging the errors of the evil one.
Gwen Shamblin recently got mention in Haven Ministry's quarterly newsletter under the "Non Prophet Section":

So many targets, so little space. I was told recently that Gwen
Shamblin, chief apostle and prophet for the Weigh Down Workshop/
Remnant Fellowship is coming to Denver in February. Oh joy. This self appointed
prophet denies the Trinity, the deity of Christ, salvation by grace
and the sufficiency of scripture - and those are her good points. The
control and manipulation exercised by this apostate are horrible and deadly.
Pray for her followers as we share the Gospel with them in February.

                     His website is: www.havenministry.com
  •     Don Veinot thinks Remnant Fellowship is a cult.
Don Veinot is the president of a Christian ministry called Midwest Christian Outreach whose mission is to give clear answers, and a solid defense of the orthodox biblical faith, to all types of unbelievers — atheists, agnostics, as well as members of cults and new religious groups.

He has written multiple articles on Gwen Shamblin (links below).

His website is:  www.midwestoutreach.org

  •     The late Dr. Paul Martin (who passed away August 14, 2009) thought Remnant Fellowship was a cult.
Dr. Martin had testified in a child custody case arguing the court should give custody of the children to the father since the mother was in a cult called Remnant Fellowship.  Dr. Martin was the founder and director of  Wellspring Retreat and Resource Center which is a nationally known treatment center that has treated 100s of people that have been abused in cults.  Dr. Martin dedicated his life to studying cults and helping people coming out of cults.  He is the author of the book Cult-Proffing Your Kids.  Martin received the American Family Foundation's John G. Clark award for distinguished scholarship in cult studies.

(Note: Gwen Shamblin and Remnant Fellowship tried to get this conviction overturned by taking it all the way up to the U.S Supreme Court.  The conviction stands.)
